If you’re looking to grow your TikTok following and get more views, you’ll want to read this.

I recently had the opportunity to read a post on Reddit by an insider who used to work for TikTok. They shared some valuable tips that they learned while they were working for the app.

Without further ado, here are the tips:

Be Consistent

You want your fans to remember who you are, so you need to make an appearance on their FYP. Some individuals post multiple times a day, while others only do it once or twice a week.

Find out what works best for your schedule and sanity. If you’re going to post 3 times a day, that’s 21 videos each week, 90-93 videos per month. It is a lot, so don’t want to burn out or dread creating content because it is supposed to be enjoyable.

I advocate publishing once every 2-3 days if that’s possible or easy, but if not, increase it to twice a week. If it’s too much, publish just once every 4-5 days or even less frequently.

Make it Entertaining

Humans’ attention span has significantly shortened since the advent of social media and streaming services. If something doesn’t load in 5 seconds, it’s not worth it, so you move on. With that logic in mind, if a video fails to capture someone’s attention within the first 3-5 seconds of viewing, people will typically go to the next video

It’s not a terrible thing to do, but it should be avoided. It’s perfectly acceptable to use clickbait headlines and content. You must entice the user to continue watching your video. TikTok keeps track of video completion rate.

If, for example, 80% of the people who watch your video watch 75% of it, there’s a good chance that it’s decent and intriguing. TikTok is more inclined to push this video out to your non-fans’ FYPs, which improves your chances of going viral and gaining more followers.

Keep Track of the Trends and Do Them

You don’t have to perform the dances or lip sync if you don’t want to, but make use of the sounds. TikTok has sponsored hashtags and trends that it promotes, and there is usually a tiny ad-like popup for them like right now #booktokchallenge or #worklife.

If you utilize these hashtags and they are relevant to your video, TikTok will most likely promote it, which means that it will include it in their hashtag search results and send it to people who used the same hashtag. How do you track down these themes? You may look on the app, but some of the trends are already oversaturated.

NetEase Toodboard was formerly my favorite, but they told me about OnTrend a few weeks ago and it’s been great. You may look for popular trends or rising issues, which are divided into categories (beauty, food, dance, pets, etc). You can also check out how many videos have been produced with that trend and the growth rate over the last 24 hours.

Have Contact Information If You Want to Monetize

You’ll need a method for them to get in touch with you if you want to make money from your TikTok page, which is akin to having a brand pay you to advertise something.

There have been many creators I wished to work with on a sponsored campaign but had no means of reaching out to them because they didn’t have an email, weren’t linked in their bio, or had no Instagram account.

Don’t use your real email address; instead, open a new account using the username you want to use for TikTok, such as Gmail.

TikTok Monitors Every Detail of Your Account

They keep track of when you log in and where you’re logged in from, as well as the device you’re using. They know if you have an iPhone 13 and switch to another iPhone 13.

If you’re not doing anything illegal, this isn’t a major problem.

It Is True That Shadowbans Exist, but It Affects Just a Small Percentage of Creators

TikTok calls it a restriction internally, so there will be a red banner on your account on the backend that indicates restricted. Unless it was for an extreme crime, this restriction is typically removed within 24 to 72 hours.

If a group of trolls collaborated and reported one of your videos as a violation of community standards, you would lose your video and have your account shut down within minutes.

This should be resolved as quickly as possible by a moderator after they detect nothing wrong. If it keeps happening, TikTok will take longer to fix it because they will begin to question whether there is anything wrong. Unfortunately, you can’t do anything about this; simply try not to pay attention and keep creating content.

Most of the time when individuals feel their account has been shadowbanned, it’s because the algorithm has been adjusted somewhat and their material isn’t one of the month’s, quarter’s, or season’s focuses.

TikTok will want to highlight various categories throughout the year, such as science, DIY, food, and so on. As a result, some categories do better in certain months.

Make It an Enjoyable Experience

It’s supposed to be a pleasurable experience being a creator. Ignore the critics and bad views videos (you can’t win them all), and don’t compare yourself to others or hate on other creators who are successful (celebrate their victories as you’ll soon have your own).
