Do You Notice That If Your Older TikTok Video Is Doing Well, Then Newer Videos Are Held Back?

Question:
Do you find that if an older TikTok video is doing well, then newer videos are held back?
A video from a couple of weeks ago has been getting a lot of views today (it was at around 50k anyway, now about 78k, which is a lot for me in a day) but the 3 new videos I’ve posted today have got less than 30 views between them. Which is quite unusual for me now.
I just wondered if it was a blip or if anybody else had ever noticed this?

When it comes to social media success, timing is everything. Just ask any content creator who has gone viral on TikTok. But what happens when an older video of yours starts getting a lot of views and attention? Does that mean your newer videos will be held back?

It’s a question that doesn’t have a straightforward answer, unfortunately. It depends on a variety of factors, from algorithm changes to the type of content you’re putting out. Let’s take a closer look at how TikTok works and what might happen if one of your older videos starts getting more attention than your recent ones.

low views on TikTok

First, let’s consider how the TikTok algorithm works. The app is designed to show users content that they’re likely to find interesting or entertaining. To do this, TikTok uses a combination of machine learning and personalization.

Machine learning looks at the behavior of all TikTok users in order to understand what types of content are popular. This means that TikTok is constantly learning and evolving, which can impact the visibility of your videos.

Personalization is another important factor in the TikTok algorithm. This involves taking into account each individual user’s interests, viewing history, and interactions with other users’ content when deciding what to show them.

So what does all this mean for you as a content creator? Well, if one of your older videos starts getting a lot of attention, it’s possible that the TikTok algorithm will start showing it to more users. This could lead to an increase in views and engagement for your newer videos as well.

However, there are no guarantees when it comes to the algorithm. It’s always changing, which means that what works today might not work tomorrow. There’s also no guarantee that your older videos will continue to perform well indefinitely. In fact, it’s quite possible that they’ll eventually fall out of favor with users and lose visibility.

Ultimately, the best way to ensure success on TikTok is to focus on creating quality content that resonates with users. If you can do that, you stand a good chance of finding success regardless of when your videos are posted or how many views they get.
