What is verification?
According to Instagram, a verified badge is a check that appears next to an Instagram account’s name in search and on the profile. It means Instagram has confirmed that an account is the authentic presence of the public figure, celebrity or global brand it represents. Well, this feature is generally reserved for public figures, celebrities, well-known brands or brands that have the possibility of being impersonated. Instagram gives them out to say this is the official account for this individual or company.
Why should I seek for verification on Instagram?
Verification caries much more authority than that, when one sees you have a blue tick next to your name, they get the impression that you have good credibility, obviously, in the case of business, this has a direct positive impact on sales and profits. Clients are usually cautious or skeptical about online dealings. Brands without a badge could be a scam. But if they see a verification badge beside the account name, they are likely to consider the account as trustworthy and legit.
Instagram verification also increases brand awareness as well as followers. This is because verified accounts rank on top of searches and suggestions. Algorithms will also mostly favor content by verified accounts, resulting in higher post engagements.
Another major advantage is that verified accounts receive early access to Instagram features that can help monetize accounts. For example, a brand needs at least 10,000 followers to access the swipe-up feature on Instagram stories. But verified accounts are immune to this rule.
Verified accounts are also able to link their Instagram stories to blog posts, websites, product listing, etc. Now that you don’t necessarily have to have ten thousand followers to get verified, we can all expect to be able to generate a whole lot more traffic from Instagram!

I was fortunate enough to have my Instagram account verified in the last year. Am super excited about this and wish to teach you guys on how to have your Instagram account verified as well. In 2014 Instagram launched a feature where you can request for verification. (It was introduced by Twitter in June 2009, followed by Google+ in 2011, Facebook in 2012, Instagram in 2014, and Pinterest in 2015. On YouTube, you can submit a request for a verification badge once you obtain 100,000 or more subscribers). Before then they didn’t allow you to request verification. They would simply just give it to the person that they thought deserved it.
